Piauí governor tests positive for coronavirus during COP26

Governor Wellington Dias of the northeastern Brazilian state of Piauí tested positive for Covid-19 while in Glasgow for COP26. All participants at the summit have to test daily. This is the second time Mr. Dias has contracted the coronavirus, but he only has mild symptoms so far, according to his press office.

The 59-year-old is fully vaccinated and will have to observe a 14-day quarantine in the United Kingdom before returning to Brazil, after which he will test for the coronavirus again. The Piauí governor traveled to attend COP26 on Saturday. On Tuesday, he took part in a debate about green development solutions with his counterparts from Pará, Pernambuco, and Santa Catarina.
