With a total of 16,275 casualties, September was the least deadly month for Covid-19 patients in Brazil since the beginning of this year, according to death tally data compiled by media outlets.
Compared to April, the deadliest month, September registered five times fewer deaths. The seven-day rolling average now lies at 540 deaths a day, stable in comparison with the previous 14 days. The overall coronavirus death tally in Brazil sits at 596,800 people.
Improving conditions come as 146 million Brazilians have received at least one vaccine shot, with another 91 million fully vaccinated — 68.7 and 42.8 percent of the population, respectively. Another 882,684 people have received third booster jabs.
