Feds target Bolsonaro’s House whip

The Federal Police carried out search and seizure warrants this morning at addresses linked to Ricardo Barros — the government’s House whip. The move is part of an investigation into corruption scandals within the Health Ministry between 2016 and 2018, when Mr. Barros led the department.

The Feds also showed up at addresses linked to Francisco Maximiano, the owner of Precisa Medicamentos, a company at the center of coronavirus vaccine scandals also  involving Mr. Barros. Other companies owned by Mr. Maximiano are believed to have benefited from irregularity-laden contracts with the Health Ministry during Mr. Barros’s stint.

In a statement, Mr. Barros denied any wrongdoing.
