The scandal in Argentina over a birthday party organized at the president’s home during the strictest phase of last year’s lockdown continues, with President Alberto Fernández now charged by prosecutor Ramiro González in a criminal case targeting the party guests and organizers.
Mr. Fernández had promised to use the law to prosecute those who violated his government’s restrictions to combat the spread of Covid-19, but leaked pictures of a birthday party thrown for First Lady Fabiola Yañez has thrown his own words against him, just three weeks before Argentina goes to the polls for midterm elections.
