Brazilian industrial production remained unchanged between May and June, according to data released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) on Tuesday. Stability comes after 1.4-percent growth in the previous month.

The sector is now 12 percent above June 2020 levels and grew 22.6 percent in the second quarter of this year. In the first six months of 2021, industrial production rose 12.9 percent. The expansion of the sector was hampered by negative numbers in the vehicles (-3.8 percent), pulp and paper (-5.3 percent), and food products (-1.3 percent) segments.
