Argentina tops 100,000 Covid-19 deaths

Argentina has become just the 11th nation in the world to surpass 100,000 confirmed coronavirus deaths. Five of these countries are located in Latin America.

After seeing a peak of cases and deaths over the last three months — which saw the government abdicate from hosting the 2021 Copa America football tournament — the Covid-19 curve has decreased somewhat in the first half of July. Even so, the country maintains strict rules on people arriving from abroad.

Meanwhile, the vaccination program in Argentina is showing some early effects: as of today, over 11.2 percent of the country’s 45 million population is already fully vaccinated.
