Brazil creates 280,000 net formal jobs in May

According to the Economy Ministry, Brazilian companies registered an additional 280,666 net jobs in May. It is the fifth consecutive month with positive results after a significant drop in December.

The General Register of Employed and Unemployed Persons (Caged) measured over 1.5 million hires in May, and 1.26 million dismissals. The services sector was responsible for most new jobs, distributed mainly across information, communication and finance, real estate, and administrative sectors.

Since the turn of the year, Brazil has tallied 1.2 million net formal jobs.
