Enjoying relative stability in comparison with its neighbors — despite alleged human rights violations during its social isolation push — El Salvador is furthering coronavirus diplomacy to help improve its image abroad. The country is assisting neighbors with health supplies and humanitarian aid as a means to strengthen economic bonds.
Besides sending assistance to Honduras and Guatemala during the 2020 hurricane season, El Salvador also donated 10,000 vials of painkillers for ICU patients in Costa Rica.
Mr. Bukele sent the aid after an “urgent request” from San José, saying that their “Costa Rican brothers would do the same” for El Salvador.
