Brazil to receive 15.5 million doses of Pfizer vaccine by June

Health Minister Marcelo Queiroga informed today that the federal government struck a deal with Pfizer to receive more coronavirus vaccines by the end of June. Brazil originally hoped to receive 13.5 million doses during this period, and the total has now been raised to 15.5 million.

The Brazilian government purchased 100 million shots of the Pfizer vaccine.

The arrival of extra doses could help to speed up Brazil’s immunization campaign. The country has administered around 32.15 million jabs so far, meaning that 11.5 percent of Brazilians have received at least one shot. But over 1.5 million have missed their appointments for a second jab, which could hinder the overall vaccination effort.
