Justice Ministry receives BRL 409 million to fight Covid-19 in prisons and indigenous villages

The Justice Ministry received BRL 409 million to fight the Covid-19 pandemic. Brazilian prisons will receive an extra BRL 179.6 million to buy protective equipment, tests, and hospital supplies. Indigenous villages will get BRL 7.5 million to purchase food, hygiene supplies, and to reinforce sanitary barriers surrounding their communities.

Another BRL 89 million will be used to reinforce sanitary barriers on the country’s borders, and the Federal Highway Patrol will receive BRL 20 million to buy personal protective equipment (PPE). The Justice Ministry has given Brazil’s other police forces BRL 112.5 million to acquire PPE.
