Congress and the federal government will have to adapt all their planned structural reforms to the post-Covid-19 pandemic scenario. But House Speaker Rodrigo Maia underlined that approving these reforms after the health crisis will be necessary to reignite the economy and help cut the growing public debt. “To vote on an administrative reform with the public debt at 80 percent of the GDP is one thing, but when it’s 100 percent, it’s a different matter,” said Mr. Maia, during a press conference.

Mr. Maia also said that he met with President Jair Bolsonaro today to discuss postponing the National University Entrance Exam (Enem). According to the Speaker, Mr. Bolsonaro will analyze the possibility of changing the date of the exam to avoid putting students without internet access at a disadvantage.
