The first airborne shipment of healthcare equipment from China arrived in the city of Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday. Another flight should arrive today with additional ventilators and medical supplies. According to Rio Mayor Marcelo Crivella, the 300 new ventilators will be distributed to three hospitals.

Another three shipments from China are set to arrive in the city over the coming days. Two batches of 150 ventilators each should arrive on May 28 and May 29, with an extra order of 120 respirators expected for May 30. Brazilian airline Latam was hired by the municipal government to operate the charter flights.
