In the city of Salvador, capital of the northeastern state of Bahia, it has become illegal from today onward to use public transport without wearing protective facemasks. The local transport secretary Fábio Mota said bus companies have been advised to refuse entry of non-compliant individuals. If someone without a mask tries to force their way onto a public bus, drivers must inform the authorities.
