Agriculture Ministry: Credit lines for small- and mid-sized rural producers

The Agriculture Ministry announced a series of measures to support the agribusiness, focusing mostly on small rural producers. A special credit line was established. While interest rates will be 4.6 percent a year, with a three-year payment deadline, the loan limit per producer will be BRL 20,000 (USD 3,900).

A similar initiative for mid-sized rural producers was also created. For this group, interested rates will be 6 percent per year, and the loan limit will be BRL 40,000. The payment deadline remains three years. “These measures will allow farmers to have longer deadlines and more liquidity to honor with their financial commitments and enough time to assist them with decision-making,” said Agriculture Minister Tereza Cristina.
