Newspaper Correio Braziliense has reported that a funeral parlor in Minas Gerais’ state capital Belo Horizonte received 73 bodies between Friday and Sunday. Medical reports indicated that 23 of them died from “acute respiratory failure” and “chronic pneumonia” (which have been associated with Covid-19). However, according to official data from state authorities, no Covid-19 death has been recorded in Minas Gerais.

Workers of the funeral parlor spoke anonymously, saying that the number of bodies received over the past weekend is twice as high as normal—”due to the cases of respiratory failure,” said one of the staffers to reporter Renato Souza.
