On Christmas Eve, President Michel Temer addressed the nation to discuss his administration’s results in 2017. The government’s main goal for the new year featured among the key topics of his speech: passing the highly-controversial pension system reform. To illustrate the need for an overhaul of the social security system, Temer compared Brazil to Argentina. Aos Fatos has fact-checked Temer’s statements:

“Our neighboring country, Argentina, in a conscientious gesture of union for the country, set an example and approved its [pension] reform.”
